Work in Progress - Painting on Particle Board

I'm enjoying the feel of my new paintbrushes.  They are not the most expensive ones, but quite ok for what I am doing.  I might get just a couple of really excellent brushes soon, though, because I want to be able to get really fine lines and these cheapo ones are just not cutting it in that department. This is a freehand doodle using white gesso paint on particle/craft board.  I have started to add some colour using prismacolor pencils. I'm not sure how this one will turn out, I am just having fun experimenting.  What are your favourite type of paintbrushes? Any suggestions? Please comment below :)

Congratulations to Morgan...Here is Your Personalised Printable Notepaper!

Morgan's name decorated with summer flowers.
Congratulations to Morgan, who recently commented on one of my videos and won herself a personalised printable notepaper set with a matching envelope.  These are now hers to print out as many times as she likes, and send to her friends and family.  This design was drawn by hand with black pen on paper, and then digitally coloured.  I also made this into a drawing video, which includes some photos of our little garden, the inspiration for the flower design.  You can see the video below.  If you would like to see more of my printables, visit my shop.

The finished personalised notepaper with matching fancy envelope.

Watch me design Morgan's prize in this video.  There are also a few photos of my garden as well.  Don't forget to comment, thumbs up, share and subscribe...every little bit helps!

Flower Explosion - Video Drawing Tutorial

Wellington...howling wind, fog, hail, landslides, earthquakes...and that's just in one afternoon!  Ok ok, maybe I am exaggerating a bit, but generally here in Wellington, New Zealand, we just have to ignore the weather and get on with things.

I was born here but I lived in a very hot place for most of my life.  When I returned and began complaining about the cold weather, a friend of mine who lived here all her life said to me 'Well, you're just going to have to toughen up a bit!'.  She said it in a joking way, of course. I am glad she said it, because it's true, there is no point complaining about the weather. Why? Because when spring and summer come around it is all worth putting up with.

Suddenly there is an explosion of flowers, crystal clear blue skies reflecting in the breathtaking beauty of the harbor, and everything turns an amazing shade of emerald green.  The hills are covered in dense forest, similar in texture to large clumps of brocolli. The botanical gardens come alive and burst into colour, like something out of a children's picture book.

Spring has already sprung here and the flowers are now at their best. Now summer is here. I thought I would capture the floral inspiration before they finish, with this latest tutorial.  These blooms are obviously not going to win any prizes for botanical drawing, they are straight out of my imagination.

Have a go at drawing your own flower explosion...it's lots of fun!  I know the weather where you live may be turning a little chilly, but when you have finished drawing these cheerful flowers, you will feel as warm as a sunny summer's day.

Don't forget to subscribe to my blog and You Tube, send me a video response with your drawing (in the comments below the tutorial video on You Tube), or add your artwork to the 'Dangerous Doodles' group on Flickr,  I can't wait to see your wonderful floral creations!

Happy doodling!

P.S: (You are welcome to use the 'Dangerous Doodle' pattern designs in any of your own creations, as I have provided them for free, however I would really appreciate it if you have the chance to link back to my articles so that others could share the doodly fun!  Thanks :))
