A 'Dangerous Doodles' Pattern Book? Suggestions Welcome.

A Photoshopped example of what the
'Dangerous Doodle' book cover could look like.

Some of my readers have suggested that a 'Dangerous Doodle' book might be a good idea.    I would like to have a go at making one, so I thought I would ask you for your input.  What do you think?

Should it be just a book of patterns, or include step by step tutorials as well?
How much would you be prepared to pay for a book full of dangerous doodles?

Would you like to see examples of other people's artwork inspired by the dangerous doodle tutorials?

What else would you like to see included in the Dangerous Doodle book?

Please join the discussion in the comments below if you are interested in this idea.
Looking forward to hearing your suggestions:)

Regards,

  1. I am in love with your drawings. I 'discovered' you on youtube while looking at some other things and have poured over about 1/2 of your videos. Please write the book! I will pay.

  2. Just now discovered your doodles. It would be fun to have a book with step by step instructions and a gallery of how others have used your doodles in their work, in addition to a gallery of your work.

  3. I joined the group on Flickr some time ago ,but haven't had the time to really "look around".I blog very little-mostly I post my work on flick as belatrix29 and somewhat admire people that are so devoted to their blogs.
I was browsing today through you tutorials and they are wonderful an easy to follow.I definitely think you should write a book and you should definitely include some tutorials in it .Great Idea. Love the M letter btw.

  4. Thanks for all your comments, everyone! I wish I could reply to each one individually, but Blogger doesn't seem to have a way to do that. You have really encouraged me...I think I better make a proper start on this book (it will probably be a 'zine' style book. Make sure you subscribe, and then it will be easy for me to let you know when it is finished :)

  5. Yes! Your work is awesome and your videos do such a great job of demonstrating how to recreate your doodles. I would love a book that collected all of your patterns in one place along with step-by-step tutorials. I'd like it if you also included a section on lettering. I have a difficult time embellishing the lettering in my art journal. As for price...I've paid from 10 to 20 dollars for similar resources. The price I am willing to pay depends upon how many pages and how many new ideas are included. I'm excited that you decided to move forward with this project and look forward to having a copy of my own. Best wishes!

  6. I have just found your You Tube channel and blog and am fascinated with your drawings. I would love a book with tutorials, step by step drawings and maybe some hints and tips on creating your own patterns and such. I can see some DVDs in your future as well, perhaps. I can't wait to see what you create next!

  7. I stumbled onto your site on Youtube. I doodle stuff like this too. I love your stuff and have incorporated them into my pictures. I think a book would be good - make sure you have lots of examples. The tutorial are good for people just starting out. I would buy the book if the price was under $20.00

  11. I think the zine idea is great. Easy to handle and no worries with folding it and whatnot. I have to say that you have really inspired me to draw, which I really never enjoyed before. When it "happens" for me is when I start adding color. Shades of bad art teachers! We're so lucky to have you. :-)

  13. I just found your site via Pinterest and I love your artwork! I would definitely love to see a Dangerous Doodles book. Are you making an e-book pdf or a zine? I'm sure you'd get published if you made a "real" book too =) Anyway, I wish my son's art class had lessons like your tutorials! When I was a kid art class was awesome, now it's just blah...

  15. I just discovered Zentangles a few days ago and find your website MOST helpful. I am a quilter and am eager to incorporate tangles into my fiber art. I always claimed that I could not even draw a straight line. Well, that's a plus with tangles! Even my very first tangle turned out very well. I would be most interested in purchasing a tutorial book from you. I would appreciate step-by-step instructions along with information on suggested supplies. Thank you for sharing your fantastic skills!

  16. I am not very good at Art, I can't even draw a straight line for a stick figure, but I love doodling. There is no right or wrong, you just "DOODLE". I think you should include easy to follow tutorials as well as already complete Doodle Drawings. Simple things like starting with a dot, adding a teardrop around it, then adding spirals, and adding another layer and more layers until BAM... you have a DOODLED drawing. Either way it will be wonderful, you are simply BRILLIANT and I LOVE your stuff. Thank you for sharing your gifts with the masses.

  17. I just stumbled onto your website today, via Pinterest. I watched your tutorial on paisleys. I was entranced. I have very little skill in drawing, but I can look at others ideas and then put my 'spin' on them. I just haven't reached the point where I can just doodle and not think about it. So, I think a book with different techniques would be awesome!
