Treasured Twice...How Nice!

Wow...featured in two Etsy Treasuries in 24 hours.  I'm on a roll!  Good to know my little old Etsy shop hasn't been totally buried under the millions of items people list every day, and my items can still be found...now if only someone would actually BUY something! LOL:)

You can find the actual treasuries here:

'It's Right There in Black and White'
and
'It's a Slice of Heaven - A Very Kiwi Treasury'

Spot the Miraculous Mosquito, I'm in there somewhere!

I love some of the other items.  My favourite would have to be Nigella by 'Retrofemme', another Kiwi (New Zealand) Etsy shop owner.

Hope you're having a good one...
Regards

Illuminated 'M' Print...and more to come.

I'm pleased to announce that the first of my Illuminated letters, the grand letter 'M', is now available in my shop, as a brand spanking new print, to be framed and displayed wherever your heart desires.  I really enjoyed working on this piece, so I aim to draw more of the alphabet...maybe I will start with the letter 'A' just to be logical this time.  Don't forget to subscribe so that you don't miss out on any new additions.

You can read more about the illuminated letter here.

Miraculous Mosquito Art Prints...Coming Soon!

Today I decided to hop down to the printers and order a few A4 sized examples of my artwork on different thicknesses of silky smooth paper - 'Earthed', 'Illuminated M', and 'Chinese Proverb'. I was really pleased with the result, and thinking of selling these in my shop.

Update:  You can now purchase this print here.
Next job will be to visit good ol' New Zealand Post and find out how much they will cost to send to different international locations.  It's very exciting to see my artwork printed out so nicely.  Can't wait until I can list them properly in my shop and start sending them worldwide!

I might have a go at making some cards and other stationary as well...I think the print shop will be seeing a lot more of me in the future.

Comments?  Suggestions?  I would love to hear what you think :)

MM.

Tea For Me, Please!

Are you a tea or coffee person?  I must admit  I'm a bit of a tea person myself.  I was hooked ever since I fell off my bike when I was a kid, and my Mum suggested I have a cup of warm milky tea to settle my nerves.  Now I have to have my tea the same way...warm, milky, oh...and with lots of sugar.

At our house we also have Moroccan tea, served with a fancy faux silver teapot in little tiny glasses on a silver tray.  It is made of fresh mint, green tea, and sugar.  Moroccan tea is served in a more sociable way than we usually serve the English tea.  Everyone sits on the floor around the tray with their legs crossed and we drink it together, practicing our Arabic.

Coffee?  Well I love the smell of it, especially the real stuff (not the instant chemical rubbish) but I can live without drinking it if I have to.

I completed these two images using my drawing tablet, in Art Rage and Photoshop.  They are available in my shop as various printable items.  Just search for 'teapot' and 'coffee' to find them.

MM.

Let's Get Writing!

An example of one of the printable writing papers.
Even with the convenience of emails, you would be surprised at how many people still like to use the old fashioned writing paper.  I have had many requests for different types of writing paper in my shop, so I designed a couple of new ones, and people are quite specific about what they want to write on when they request something special.  One of my customers used my writing paper to print off and write in her daily journal.  Other people like to use them the traditional way and send them in the snail mail.  It's kind of nice to think that someone is using my writing paper to write a personal note to a freind or loved one....ohhhhh :))

The example in the picture features a picture taken from my colouring in book.

You can see the whole range of writing papers here.  Stay tuned for more, I'm planning to do lots of these...maybe some more with envelopes too :)

Experimenting with Collage

Update:  This print is now available for purchase here.

This little tree proved to be quite popular in my Etsy shop, so I have been experimenting with different ways of using it.  I spent all last night experimenting with different types of old paper for the collage, and I am quite pleased with the result (even though I can hardly open my eyes this morning).  I chose the quote because I wanted something very simple to go with the image, I thought this one was just right.  I had previously drawn the tree in Art Rage (a great free drawing program with all sorts of drawing materials to choose from) but the colours looked a bit too pixelated, and not soft enough, so I reworked it again in Photoshop using my drawing tablet.

As well as printables, I would like to branch out a bit and offer prints of my work, and perhaps physical cards/stationary etc but I need to take the plunge and get a few examples printed down the road at the shops to see if they turn out ok.  It will be fun to see what they look like on the different types of paper.  Then I would have to check out the postage options if someone orders one and they live on the other side of the planet (the very reason I avoided this sort of thing in the first place...postage from New Zealand might turn people off a bit!) Perhaps this little guy could be a candidate for an A4 size print, what do you think?
